Our Definition of a Perfect Puppy Home

Really loves their dogs as dogs.  Spends most or all of their time with their dog.  Wants to try every activity in the world with their dog, but does not use hard or unpleasant methods to succeed.  Is competitive enough to push, but does not really care about winning.  Lets him sleep in their bed and sit on the couch when watching TV.  Takes their puppy to work. ABSOLUTELY promises to return him to us if for any reason it does not work out.  Is not intimidated by intensity and lets their dog play and be a dog.  Feels that anything and everything that happens is their responsibility and does their best to keep him happy and healthy.  Thinks for themselves and will come up with diet and vaccination protocols that work for them and their dog in their situation.  Is silly with him and teaches him to sneeze on command.  Wrestles with him on the floor.  Goes on walks and REALLY pays attention to him and spends time with him, not ignoring him at the end of his leash.  Does not let him get fat. Does whatever it takes to keep him healthy.  Really enjoys dog behavior and is always trying to learn more.  Does not get sucked in by training fads.  Sits quietly with their puppy and watches a sunset.  Scratches his ears.  Takes him places and is a good ambassador for the breed.  Is proud of what a wonderful dog he is. Gets up on Sunday and thinks,  "Where can I take my puppy that he has not been and will enjoy".  Takes him for walks in the city to see the sights and hikes in the woods.  Takes him to the snow and to go swimming.  Gets the puppy Christmas presents and lets him unwrap them.  Sets limits so puppy knows how to succeed.  Does not nag.  Is clear and consistent.  Does not put him in unfair situations, and protects him from meanness and stupidity.  Is always vigilant and checks every situation for possible risks, but is not so protective that the whole world becomes a fearful place.  Teaches the puppy to meet the world in play stance, ready to see what cool new adventures await.  Makes light of negatives and learns from them. Laughs lots and is not depressed or angry too much.  Has an excellent yard with fun things to do.  Really makes sure that he gets enough exercise.  Keeps us posted on how he is doing and sends pictures.
